The International House Certificate in Teaching Young Learners

Who is the course meant for?
The course is aimed at English teachers who would like to develop their skills for teaching young learners. You may already have skills and experience in this area or it may be an area you wish to teach in more in the future.Who devised and organized the course?
The course was written by experienced teacher trainers working for the International House World Organisation. It will be delivered by the experienced and qualified English Language Trainers of IH Riga Satva who are responsible for our own internal training and development programme. The Head of Teacher Training is Bruce Bax who has worked as a teacher trainer for six years at renowned International House schools in IH Katowice in Poland, IH Budapest in Hungary and now for his third year at IH Riga.What are the goals / aims of the course?
The teaching of English to young learners is growing rapidly around the world. As a teacher of young learners you have an extra responsibility as the way you teach and the learning environment you create have an effect on the way the children will learn and view language learning for the rest of their lives. Knowing what young learners are like, what they need and how best to approach teaching them, along with a whole host of practical ideas will certainly make your job an easier and less daunting one.What does the course consist of?
There will be 20 sessions (90 mins x 20 = 40 academic hours in total (1 academic hour = 45 minutes). We will run the course intensively (over 2 weeks) or extensively, according to interest. The twenty sessions are entitled:- Teaching Young Learners - An Introduction
