The Cambridge Proficiency Exam Preparation Course

Who is the course meant for?
The course is intended for teachers of English who wish to further develop their level of English with a view to taking the Cambridge Proficiency examination and gaining an internationally accredited qualification. More than 45,000 people in over 80 countries take the CPE exam each year. Success at this level represents a significant personal achievement.Who devised and organized the course?
The course was written and will be delivered by the experienced and qualified English Language Trainers of IH Riga Satva who are responsible for our own internal training and development programme. The Head of Teacher Training is Bruce Bax who has worked as a teacher trainer for six years at renowned International House schools in IH Katowice in Poland, IH Budapest in Hungary and now for his third year at IH Riga.What are the goals / aims of the course?
The course will focus on development of speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary and examination techniques. The end objective is to prepare students to successfully take the Cambridge Proficiency examination.When and where will the course be delivered?
The course will take place weekly and lessons will last 90 minutes. There will be 28 lessons in total. The whole course will last 56 academic hours (1 academic hour = 45 minutes). The lessons will take place at IH Riga.What does the course consist of?
We will follow a coursebook, New Proficiency Gold published by Longman. The course will consist of fourteen modules, focusing on distinct topics and developing students’ skills, vocabulary and grammatical awareness around this theme.|
